The new building owners of these twin office towers, Cadillac Fairview Corp Ltd, desired to upgrade the existing lobbies to the calibre of their other properties, and link both buildings to the adjacent Pacific Centre shopping mall. The extensive renovation included the demolition of a small, dimly-lit single storey retail block positioned between the two towers. It was replaced with a soaring steel and glass atrium that visually and physically carries customers to Pacific Centre. The atrium and lobbies share playful design motifs but incorporate them using different placement and materials. The entire project showcases a wealth of custom-designed light fixtures that heighten the scale of the spaces and give the buildings a new and highly-visible street presence--the lobbies and atrium become glowing jewels at night.
